Camp Fundraiser
I will have to say that I love the Young Women. I would do almost anything for them which includes helping them with there fundraising for girls camp. Yes, my husband was away and the check book did come out. Sorry Jed...and he can't even eat it. This is one of my purchases
Not the girls....I would have paid tons more for them.
I will have to say it is a cute cake, wouldn't you? And only $36. Jed will have to taste a little bit of it. I don't think he has ever tasted a $36 cake before (except of course our wedding cake)
Zoee bid on a cute bracelet and earrings.
And Evva really wanted this bracelet. So I had to bid on this one 3 times just to get it.
I will have to say we had fun! Even if we all came home a little broke. It's all going to a good cause.
I am so grateful for her and the strength of her testimony. I know that she will do such a good job with the girls. Unlike me, she attended her girls camp as a youth and remembers what it was like. I am so proud of her. Thanks Desi for accepting this calling-not for me but for all the young women here in the Magna Central Stake that I have grown to love as my own. You have always been such a great example to me. I love you!Posted by Sonja at 8:11 PM 2 comments

Mini Spinnies
Every year the Cyprus Spinnakers do a fundraiser and teach kids a routine to do at the Spinnaker review. Both Zoee and Evva participated in it this year and did such a great job.

Tysen's Birthday
I can hardly believe that it has been 2 years ago that Tysen was born. He is turning into a little boy way to fast.
Meagan was good enough to let us celebrate it last night.

Dead Cow - A Blessing?
A holy man of God took with him a young man as they walked the hills of Israel. He was teaching him the workings and the ways of God.
They would walk along and he would instruct him. After a long day they both tire and come to a village for the night. Outside the village is a humble home. They go and knock on the door. A widow answers. She has a young daughter, 7 years old. Their only means of income is a cow they have out in the back yard. “Oh please come in,” she said, “you can have our bedroom. We have some milk and a little bit of bread, not much, but you can have what we do have. It’s our pleasure to have you stay with us.” They spent the evening.
The next morning they arose. The holy man grateful, asked to leave a blessing on the home. A blessing was left. They departed the home, thanking the widow and her young daughter. After they were up the road a bit, they heard a rukus back at this little home. They turned around to see that the cow had died. Remembering that that was their only means of making a living, the young boy asked, “Why would that happen? You left a blessing! What kind of a God would do that?” The holy man smiled with relief and said, “Never mind, lets be on our way.”
As they finished that day of travel, they came to a well-to-do home. They knocked on the door and the servant said, “you can stay in the barn, and if there are any leftovers, we’ll bring them out to you.” They did. As they brought those morsels out the holy man thanked him. He gave them a blanket and they slept in the barn with the animals.
The next morning when the young man arose, this holy man was gone. He looked around and saw a figure out in the fields. He went outside to see if this was the holy man and it was. He was mending the fence. Now in Israel, there are rocks all over the fields and they pick up rocks to build fences with them in order to clear the fields. The holy man was putting the rocks up against a ledge. The young man looked at him and said, “what are you doing?” The holy man said, “Never you mind, I am just finishing now" as he put the last couple of rocks in place.
Soon after they were on their way. Up the road aways, the young boy stopped and said, I’m leaving now, I can no longer follow you. For any God that would do what I have just seen, I cannot follow." The holy man said, “Now I perceive that you are ready to learn. You see as I arose this morning, the spirit whispered to go mend the fence. For if it continued to fall, a vein of gold would be revealed and it was not to be given to this man, because of the way he treated us. So I mended this fence so the gold would be withheld from him." The young boy said, "I can understand that. But why would a God take the only means of income from a widow, after leaving a blessing upon the home?" This great man of God, looked and said, “Now you will see the mercy and glory of God.” "You see, as I arose that morning, the spirit whispered to me that the life of this daughter would be required that day. And I plead with the Lord that he would stay the daughter’s life and let her live. But perhaps, if he would, take something else, even my life if need be. And when we went up the road and turned around and saw that the cow had died, I realized that the prayer had been answered and the daughter’s life would be spared.

Magna Central Stake Sweetheart Ball
I had such a good time at our dance. I was on the decoration committee and I thought that the decorations were awesome. Check it out....
Not only did we have a disco ball (oh yea, right out of the 80s) but Empress Theater let us borrow a spot light and Eric (the DJ) had this cool light that made some neat lighting.
There was this couple (kay, I'm not going to say old cause I am getting there myself) that were so much fun to watch. I wish I had his energy. Ya should have seen him! I wish I would have had a movie camera with me so you could see. This picture does no justice.
We had a good turn out from our ward. Those of you who did not go.....you missed out on a good time.Posted by Sonja at 10:50 AM 5 comments

Family Night
The first Monday of every month we have all of our family come over for family night. That is my favorite night of the month.
Zoee was in charge of the lesson (which makes it that much more fun). We had our song and prayer and scripture and then a little bit of Red Light Green Light. Short, Sweet and good company!
And then she made us all play. Except of course Derrik and Timmy. "our Party Poopers"
Adrianne came over and spent family night with us too. We hardly ever get to see her so it was nice that she would come. The girls love her! They followed her everywhere and Evva played with her hair. I still say Evva is going to be a hair dresser.Posted by Sonja at 2:45 PM 1 comments

Los Hermanos 2009
Every year my family gets together around my moms birthday. It is amazing how fast time goes by because I remember blogging about this just yesterday and yet it seems like forever sense I have been with them. We have so much to catch up on. I am sure that Los Hermanos wonders when we are ever going to leave. I think we were there for about 3 hours and could have stayed a lot longer. Maybe it was because it was raining out side and we knew that it couldn't be a Peterson good-bye in the parking lot.
I know I have said this a million times and I will probably say it a million more but I have the best family ever. I was so blessed to be born into such a great family. We all get along so well. There isn't anything that I wouldn't do for any of them.
We all took turns going around and updating each other about our families. It was fun knowing most of what was going on from reading every ones blogs....I love blogs. Besides I have the cutest nieces and nephews too.
This is my sister Colleen and her husband Craig. We are the closest in age (is it 28 or 29 now)? She just got put in as her ward Young Women's President. Those girls are so lucky! She will be such a good leader and example for those girls. The funny thing is is that she has about 90 young women in her ward. We have about 90 active young women in our stake. She is going to be busy.
They have 3 'beautiful' girls that I tend to call my own.
My sister Susan and her husband Mark. They have been serving at the MTC as 2nd Counselor in the Presidency. They have just been put back in as 1st counselor. So they will be at the MTC for a little longer. They are such good examples and each of their children are amazing too. They have 8 children (or should I say grownups)?
I didn't realize that I didn't get a picture of Chuck and Jim together. I guess I was too busy talking and eating. I'll do better next year. This is my sister Chuck (above in the blue) and her husband Jim (below in blue). These two are amazing. For those of you here in Magna, he was a seminary teacher at Brockbank a few year back. They both are such great teachers. I have done my share of running to them and learning so much from them. They are such humble loving people, I have so much to learn from them.
They have 4 great Sons.
My sister Janet and her husband Phil. They are always there. They live the furthest from us and yet I always know that they will be there. She is so amazing and I am so grateful for her. She takes after my mom is so many ways and my mom was a pretty amazing lady. They have 6 sons and daughters.
This is my brother Pete and his wife Colleen. Are they not the cutest!!! My brother the Knight. What more can I say. I could go on and on.....but I will just say he has the cutest wife ever. I had so much fun visiting with her and laughing about her daughters blog and how grateful we were when she finally blogged so that we didn't have to see those ugly teeth each time we signed into her blog. So if any of you need a good laugh http://beckyjohnson3.blogspot.com/ seriously funny! Anywho.....so Colleen wonders where Becky got her personality from, I would have to say from you Colleen. You have always been so much fun. Posted by Sonja at 5:38 AM 4 comments
