100 Years Old

I have a cousin that lives in California (which I might add is quit amazing) that has put on a family reunion and now a birthday party for his Mom (my Aunt) in the past 2 years. See most of us cousins live here in the Salt Lake area and it takes the one farthest away to get us all together. Pretty crazy-I know!

Anyways......

This beautiful lady just turned 100 years old. She is my dads sister and the oldest of his family.

This is my dads younger brother Uncle Elden and Aunt Alice.

My brother Pete and his wife Colleen.

My sister Janet and her husband Phil

My sister Colleen and her husband Craig.

My sister Susan and her husband Mark

and of course....me and Jed.

We had such a good time. After each family got pictures taken with Aunt Rhoda, we went in and had dinner. We had it at Gardner Village and it was good! They went around the room and each family got to introduce themselves and say something that they remembered about Aunt Rhoda. It was fun to hear all the comments. Then they showed a DVD they had put together of Rhoda and the past 100 years. It was so fun to see the pictures. Fun to see pictures of my mom and dad too. Boy it brought back a lot of memories.

They brought out cake and we all sang to her. Each family got to take home a copy of the DVD and a framed picture of Aunt Rhoda. What a great party and company. It was so nice to be with family today. I will have to say too that if I ever get to be 100 years old (and no I don't wish that) I hope to be just like her.

I thought I had better up date the final game score....Cyprus 40/ Granger 45. We may have lost the game but I was so proud of these girls. These are the girls that went all the way.

P.S. Boys made it to play offs. 1st game Monday Night at 7 Murry High School. Good luck boys!

If any of you have ever coached, you know that the team begins bigger. One by one they drop. After we had like 12 straight losses, I think I may have dropped too. It's pretty discouraging. These girls kept going and I am so proud of each of them.

You may have heard about the about the wreck on Backus the last snow storm we had. One of the cars (the one that was sandwiched between) was one of our teachers and our sports director Miss Tanner. Before the game on Thursday, the bus took a detour to the rehab center so that we could go see her. All the girls wrote Tanners name across their Doris head bands and told her they were playing this game for her. It was so good to see her. If you saw the picture of her car, you would know how amazing it is to see her alive and smiling. She said they have already got her up and trying to walk on one leg. (broken femer, 2 broken knee caps, broken arm, broken wrist, broken hip) yea, she is a little broken up. Our prayers are with her.

Cyprus 52/ Granger 40

The Pirates utilized a strong fourth quarter to pull off the win and force a play-in game for the final Region 2 spot in the state tournament. Lori Parkinson and Kelly Uriarte combined for 27 for Cyprus. The Pirates and Lancers will face off again on Thursday

Note: Granger and Cyprus finished tied for fourth in Region 2 and they'll have a play-in game on Thursday at Murry High School. Region 4 wraps up play on Thursday.
So the Granger game was to be our last game. Who would have thought? When I got to work on Tuesday I heard the news that if we win this game we would be tied to go to play offs. To be honest with you, I wasn't sure that I wanted us to win. I know "selfish". That all changed when we were at the game. Oh My Gosh! I don't think I have ever gone to such a fun game. My throat hurts! We were behind by 8 before half time.

Okay so that facts are: We have won Granger 2 times. (Temple night is Friday night/ game of Friday). What do you think?. . yea, We will be going to play offs ;)

Cottonwood 31 Cyprus 32

Lori Parkinson blocked the Colts' potentially game-winning shot as time expired while Kelly Uriarte notched 16 points.

Last night was our girls basketball Senior night. All the senior girls got to start the game. Each one of the seniors were honored and had their parents walk with them as the girls read something about each one. I was honored to walk down with Dakota. She is the manager of the team. This girl showed up to every practice and every game. Although she is very shy, she is very dependable. Best of all is that she stuck it out to the end.
Of course I have to show my adopted daughter with her foster parents. I am so glad they showed up for her.

Needless to say (because of the title of the blog) WE WON!!!

They so deserved to win. These girls have worked so hard. What a party!
Kelly made 16 baskets. Mahina made 7 baskets with 1-3 pointer. I am very proud of these girls.

To finish up a good night, we stopped off at our (still ours) Stake Valentines dance. It was so nice to be around friends. I miss them so very much. Magna Central will always be my home.

I got to dance with my grand kids.

And of course the traditional Stake leaders dance. You guys did great!

And grandpa got to dance with his granddaughters. What a nice way to finish off a long week.

Thanks for letting us crash your party. I am sure it won't be the last time :)

Jed and I had a very nice Sunday. After church we got to go up and visit with Adrianne. She is living with her cousin Lauren. We haven't seen Lauren for about 9 years.
We had a very nice visit.

Ady just got 2 new puppies. The top one is part black lab and hound. I think she named him Wilbur. You will have to correct me Ady if I am wrong. That is the name that stuck in my head cause it fit him so well.

She always did love the animals.
It was so nice to visit with them all.
Keep smiling Ady - we are very proud of you!

West 30 - Cyprus 34

Oh yea...our girls won last night.
1st quarter it was 10 / 2
2nd 22 / 10
3rd 29 / 20
4th 34 /30

Lori Parkinson hit for 14 points and the Pirates led all the way in the win.

That's our Lori!

This picture was from last Friday nights game with Murry. Shawn Bradley has a daughter that plays for their Sophomore team. He is a very nice man! He let me take pictures with some of our girls. For you that may not know who he is like me.....He played for BYU basketball and the Philly's. He is only like 7 foot 8 inches tall.

Good game girls!
