Ward Camp Out

Can I just tell you what a great ward we have. Even though not many people showed up, it was so much fun just hanging out with everyone that was there.

The kids has such a good time fishing. Not that the fish was anything to catch....check out the size, but they had fun and spent most of the time down at the pond.

Thanks to Bro. Olsen and all those that helped with the camp out. Especially thanks to our Bishop. We are so blessed to have such a great man as our Bishop.

Happy Birthday Derrik

So today is Derriks birthday. I can hardly believe it has been 28 years. For any of you that know me....my hair turned gray very early in my life 'because of Derrik'.

Okay, so I will say I will take all the gray hair for him. He is my miracle child. I love him very much. I know he is a gift from God.

When he was first born, he had an infection in his blood and we had to take him back to the hospital for 10 days. Then when he was 10 months old, he nearly drowned in a small wading pool in my back yard. He was pronounced dead 3 times. Then Dr. Menton saw some pink in his cheeks and put him back on life support. They told me he would never walk or talk. That I needed to put him in a convalescent home. I told them they were wrong and that He would be walking again in 6 weeks.

6 weeks he was taking a few steps. That was a miracle in its self. He was like a new born baby at 12 months. He had to learn how to hold up his head again, sit up, stand up etc. I had the best physical therapist ever. He worked with Derrik every day for about 3 months straight. He was not only his therapist, buy mine too. He spent many hours listening to me. I owe him so much.

Derrik has been hit by a car, taken to juvy (I know, I know that sweet Innocent boy in trouble? Never). Okay, maybe once or twice. I really wondered if he would ever live. Now I look at him and thank Heavenly Father for him. He is such a good man. Great Father and Son.

I can say that he did live and teaches me life lessons everyday.

Yesterday for Pioneer day I had Jed working like crazy. He is so good to do all my little projects for YW. He worked for about 6 hours until I told him that was enough and now he had to come and play with the family. Man, I really think he may have needed scout camp last week just to get some rest from me. I love you Jed!

I love seeing the flags lined up and down the street. I love America! How blessed we are to live here.

So we all went swimming. So much fun. This was such a cute picture put you can't see their cute faces.
I took my camera to the swimming pool, ya I know. I don't need to take pictures of everything but I have to have pictures to blog. right?

After swimming we went home and BBQ'd Yummmy. I love being with the family. It was nice to have all my kids home with us. Thanks kids for humoring me and spending the day.

Happy Birthday Tim

First off, I thought I would show you that~yes sometimes she does ware clothes.

And this one is growing up way to fast.
It was Tims birthday last week but Jed was out of town so we celebrated his birthday "or had cake" with everyone for family night. '
Tim loves batman.'
I thought for sure that Wal Mart would have a batman cake but when I went to get one, nope.....so I had to make one. Kay so I am not so good on the cake part but I sure thought the decorations were good.
So I am sure that I could have found enough candles to go on the cake....but why?
28...can you believe it?

I think he liked his batman figure toy.....what do you think?

Desi cut out his name for him to eat.

So the cake may not have been that pretty, but it was good!

Just ask Tysen. He wore most of his in his hair. If you want to know how to spike your hair, frosting works really good.

I love having the family over. Wish we could have them all together. Maybe one day.
And yes, I will just end with this last picture. Clothing are like shoes to her. Ya walk in and kick them off.

Wait, I almost forgot grandpa and Briggs.

Happy Birthday Tim, we love you!

Book Tag

Here's a fun little tag that I thought I would do.
This book tag sure was quick and fun! :)

Here are the directions-
1. Pick up the nearest book,
turn to page 123
2.Find the 5th paragraph
3. Find the 5th sentence in that paragraph
4. Post the 5th sentence
5. Tag 5 people My sentence is: (drumroll please...)
"Where is Zion?"

My book must be different cause once I got to the 5th Paragraph, 5th sentence, I was like into the 6th paragraph. MMmmm that was different.

I tag anyone who is curious enough to try it! :)

Justins 'Before He Goes On His Mission Luncheon'

The day has come and now gone. We have talked about his farewell for a while now and here it is. We had a full house at church which was really nice. Even though Justin waited until early this morning to write his talk, his talk was very powerful. The spirit was very strong. I don't think there was a dry eye in the chapel.

Many old friends that have moved came back to hear Justin speak. And many friends. 'And he has Many Friends'. I wonder if Justin has any idea how many people he has touched.

I think we had over 100 people come to our house after church for lunch and a good visit. It was fun to see him surrounded by all of his friends.

He enters the MTC on Wednesday. Florida ~ watch out.....Here he comes. They are very lucky to get you as a missionary. Thanks Justin for being such a great example and friend to us. We will miss you.

The Promise Day

The promise day finally came.
Zoee called this the Promise day because last time we went to Lagoon, Grandma picked up the wrong tickets. I got the meal tickets not the ride tickets. (another blond moment). We promised to bring her back with Grandpa and Dad the next time. Jed only get a few Saturdays off a year from the Temple so we have to take advantage of it when we can. We keep him very busy on those days off!

It was lot's of fun. I love watching how excited the kids get when they get to go on rides. The pool was at full capacity this day so it wasn't until 7 PM that we finally got to cool down in the pool. We were all ready for that. Briggs and Tysen were not big enough for any rides so we all took turns. They were so good.

Missionary Time....

I thought that I would put out a reminder that Justin will be speaking next Sunday 7/13/08 before he departs for Tampa Florida.
2700 building
9 AM

We will be having a light luncheon here at our house at noon. (After the 3 hour block)

Bring your lawn chair to stay and visit....

4th of July

Thank you Colleen and Craig for letting us come to your home and enjoy time with the family.
We all had so much fun. I am so glad you had a pink horse for Evva to ride. jk

Last year we missed the 4th with my family and It was very hard. I promised I would not miss it again. Jed (and Tim...thank you Tim) is so good to go to Provo and watch the parade. I know many of the in laws just don't understand the parade thing with our family but it has been a tradition as long as I can remember. I love Provo. I love the Parade. I love my family!!

It was fun to visit with everyone. When we left Jed was laughing. He said "you sure can tell who has a blog in your family" So today, I had to catch him up on everyone and their blogs.

Discrimination

Unlawful discrimination can be characterized as direct or subtle. Direct discrimination involves treating someone less favorably because of their possession of an attribute (e.g., sex, age, race, religion, family status, national origin, military status, disability)

So can I just say that I am very angry & hurt!
Derrik is such a good hard worker. He can out work many people without disabilities and yet... He went and applied for a job with a landscaping company and they told him they could not hire him because he had a disability and limped. (But he can speak English).

I think this guy needs a wake up call. So just for fun, Desi called to see if they were hiring and see how much he would pay. The guy said that she should have called in May when he needed flowers to be planted.

I don't know about you but he needs to be turned in!!
Derrik is much better off not working for someone like that but still......

Okay, now that I have vented to everyone~I feel much better (kind of) I still want to hurt him. I have that right, don't I?
Isn't it a mom thing?

Speaker

When ever I have asked someone "If you could hear anyone speak, who would you want to hear speak"
Answer "Pres Monson"
I have been known as being real pushy to get someone to come and speak (Bro. Jacobs will testify to that) but I know that this is not going to happen. Not even any GA could I get to come and speak. And Yes....I have tried and been turned down.
Now that I have gotten that out of the way...I am looking for a fantastic speaker. Someone that people would want to hear "more than Miley Cyrus" jk. Only...... did you hear that some of her tickets are going for $2400 Now that's crazy!!
I have thought of many people but thought I would put it out on my blog to see what others would like to hear. This would be for a group of Latter day Saint Ladies.....
Jill Stevens is one that I have thought of but she is in Afghanistan. I don't think she will come home by then to come speak.
